Latest Release

v2.212.1 introduces Home, one place to follow work across your projects, respond to agents, and pick up your next task. Since v2.207.0, Intent also improves Assistant conversations, notes, and navigation.

  • A new Home page. See workspaces across your repositories in list or board views, grouped by status or repository. Search for a workspace, filter by recent activity or by work waiting on you, and pin the workspaces you use most.
  • Continue conversations from Home. Select a workspace to open its chat beside the list, switch between its agents, and send follow-up messages. Click the preview title to open the full workspace, or Cmd/Ctrl-click a workspace to open it directly.
  • Review pull requests. Browse GitHub PRs you created, were assigned, or were asked to review. Previews show the description, review activity, comments, and individual check results, and the Code view lets you search changed files and expand diffs inline.
  • Start workspaces from issues and PRs. Browse connected Linear issues with their status, assignee, and priority. Choose Start workspace on a Linear issue or GitHub PR to open setup with relevant details filled in, or return to a workspace already linked to it.
  • Assistant in Home. Home has separate Workspaces and Assistant sidebar tabs. In Assistant, open notes, files, websites, workspaces, and agent conversations alongside your chat, and each thread remembers its panel layout.
  • Easier note editing and diagram viewing. Notes opened from Assistant are ready to edit and save automatically. In Preview, diagrams render visually, with controls to view their source, open them fullscreen, and export SVGs.
  • Quicker navigation and settings search. The command palette has a simpler layout with compact category filters. Settings search also matches topics, so searching “Linear” points you to Connections.

Intent mobile (October 8, 2026)

The Intent mobile app for iPhone and iPad is available on the App Store. It works as a remote control for Intent on your computer, so you can watch and steer agents, manage workspaces, and review code changes while you’re away from your desk.

  • Connect to your computers. Pair by scanning the QR code in the desktop app, opening a pairing link, or entering the host, port, and token. The app verifies the server’s certificate and stores credentials in the iOS Keychain. When you’re away from home, it can connect through a Tailcat tunnel, and you can save several computers and switch between them.
  • Manage workspaces. Search workspaces, see status, PR badges, and items that need your attention, and swipe a row to act on it. Create a workspace by choosing a repo, branch, specialist, provider, and model, then writing the opening prompt. Rename, archive, delete, or mute workspaces, or move one to another paired computer.
  • Chat with agents. Send messages with images and files, dictate by voice, switch the model and reasoning level, or stop a reply partway through. Edit, remove, or send queued messages, answer agent questions, and accept or dismiss proposals. Messages render Markdown, code blocks, tool calls, and Mermaid diagrams, and the Assistant is available for chats outside a workspace.
  • Watch hooks and PRs. A status strip shows background hooks you can run or cancel and PRs being watched that you can refresh or cancel. It also explains why an agent woke up.
  • Review notes, tasks, and code changes. Read notes with sub-notes and attachments, and update the status of task notes or single checklist items. Browse staged and unstaged changes as a file tree with line-by-line diffs, and open any commit from the history.
  • Use terminals, scripts, and previews. Create and use terminals with a key bar for Control and the arrow keys. Start or stop saved scripts, and open the dev servers Intent is running through a separate signed-in tunnel.
  • Read offline and get notified. Workspaces, notes, and conversations are saved on your phone so you can read them without a connection. A notification tells you when an agent finishes, and tapping it opens that conversation.

Release History

Previous Intent releases and their notes.

v2.207.0 (October 5, 2026)

Since v2.198.1, Intent brings reorganized settings, more responsive chat, command monitoring, and workspace transfers through the Assistant, along with simpler agent setup.

  • Reorganized settings. Agent defaults and Providers are easier to find. Saved computers now live under Machines, while Mobile holds remote access and phone pairing controls.
  • More responsive chat and clearer queues. Messages appear as soon as you submit them, while Intent confirms delivery and manages queuing. Review and edit pending messages above the composer, or use Send all to deliver ready messages together. Unsaved drafts remain recoverable as the queue changes.
  • Monitor running commands. Agents can resume automatically when a command finishes, reaches a deadline, or produces specified output. In the chat footer, you can inspect and copy a monitor’s saved command, view output, stop monitoring, or cancel the command.
  • Move workspaces between devices from chat. Ask the Assistant to move a workspace, review the source, destination, and warnings on the transfer card, then approve it in chat. The source workspace is archived after a successful transfer.
  • Remembered specialist choices. New agents use the last specialist you manually selected in that workspace. Provider and model choices continue to follow your current settings.
  • Clearer model loading. If models fail to load, choose Retry or open Details to see what went wrong. Previously discovered model names stay readable after restarts while the provider’s list reloads.

v2.198.1 (October 2, 2026)

This maintenance release improves agent navigation, queued-message handling, diagram fullscreen and export behavior, and reliability when loading workspaces or running scripts.

v2.196.1 (October 1, 2026)

Upgrading from v2.182.0 brought simpler panel controls, more flexible layouts, and clearer diagrams, along with new ways to find notes, view files, and understand token usage.

  • Refined design and panel stacks. Menus, buttons, dialogs, and settings share more consistent spacing, typography, and focus indicators. Each panel’s dropdown lets you switch between items in its stack, with a three-dot overflow menu for actions.
  • More flexible workspace layouts. Select an item from a panel’s stack and use the overflow menu to move it into its own panel to the left, right, above, or below. Layout changes preserve sizes and support undo and redo.
  • Clearer diagrams. Improved connector routing reduces unnecessary detours and keeps lines attached to the right nodes. Labels stay with their arrows, grouped elements have better spacing, and interactive walkthroughs settle more reliably when their container moves or resizes.
  • Search notes across workspaces. The command palette now searches note contents across your workspaces, with text previews and workspace names in the results. Select a result to open the note in its workspace.
  • Better file viewing and downloads. Open PDFs inside Intent with page navigation and zoom controls, pan images by dragging, and zoom into SVG previews. Download files from the viewer or file browser, including files stored on a remote machine.
  • Clearer token usage. Click the token count beside Agents in the workspace sidebar to see input, output, cached, and reasoning tokens. Filter by agent and model to understand where usage comes from, with costs shown when the provider reports them.

v2.182.0 (September 24, 2026)

Upgrading from v2.160.0 brought a more consistent design across the app, clearer diagrams, easier workspace management, and smoother everyday interactions.

  • A refreshed design. More consistent buttons, menus, dialogs, icons, spacing, and keyboard interactions make chat, notes, settings, and workspace panels feel more cohesive.
  • Clearer diagrams. Mermaid and interactive diagrams gain improved layouts, cleaner connectors, more readable labels, smoother motion, and better image exports.
  • Easier workspace management. New Workspaces and Intent sidebar tabs give each view more room. You can archive or delete a whole workspace group, and jump directly to agents and pull requests from workspace hover cards.
  • Mute agent notifications. Silence an individual agent’s notifications while it keeps working in the background.
  • Better images and editing. Chat and notes share the same image controls, making it easier to preview, copy, and download images. Note editing is more responsive, and copying from tables, lists, and quotes is more precise.
  • Smoother chat and browsing. Streaming responses are more stable, images cause fewer layout jumps, and browser tabs stay alive more reliably when you switch workspaces.
  • Simpler device maintenance. Device settings are better organized, and supported remote machines can update their backend to match the desktop app.

v2.160.0 (September 16, 2026)

Upgrading from v2.145.1 brought rendered math in chat and notes, automatic retry on another provider when a turn hit a usage limit, stronger recovery when a workspace or the app stalled, and a broad set of editing, layout, and reliability refinements, all running on a substantially updated daemon.

  • Math rendering in chat and notes. Chat messages and workspace note previews now render mathematical notation, so formulas display properly instead of as raw markup.
  • Retry on another provider after a usage limit. When a turn stops because a provider has reached its usage limit, Intent reports it clearly and offers to run the same turn again on another configured provider.
  • Recovery when things stall. A long-task watchdog and renderer hang capture detect when the app stops responding and give you a Reload or Wait choice with context about what was running. Intent can also rebuild a workspace panel layout lost to a hang, recover workspace loading after a failed daemon startup, and reconnect stalled remote workspace previews.
  • Concurrent note edits merge cleanly. Note saving now converges at the character level and applies a three-way merge, so overlapping edits to the same note combine instead of overwriting each other.
  • Browser tabs in the agent header. Agent browser tabs now live in the agent header, come with permanent close actions, and stay alive and owned while their workspace is out of view.
  • Smoother daemon updates. Backend daemon updates can now apply opportunistically while the app is idle, and update notes appear in every open window with synchronized dismissal.
  • Under the hood. The daemon moves from intentd 0.9.38 to 0.9.65, adding adaptive pull request polling bounded by an hourly budget, one active monitor per pull request per workspace, a protocol revision that drops inline file data from file blocks, idempotency keys for message placement, and reliability work across sandbox handling, submodules, and file watching.

v2.145.1 (September 10, 2026)

Upgrading from v2.129.1 brought persistent browser tabs, better multi-device support, visual checks for agents, GitHub hover cards, clearer pull request controls, and faster loading.

  • Persistent browser tabs. Open tabs stay with the workspace and survive restarts. For a workspace on a remote machine, another device can watch and take over the same browser session.
  • Visual checks for agents. Agents capture a screenshot, the page structure, and console output at each step, then attach these as evidence in the spec.
  • GitHub hover cards. Hover an issue or pull request link in chat or a note to see its title, author, and status inline.
  • Clearer pull request controls. The Changes launcher now has a pull request dropdown, and merge-queued pull requests show a PR Queued status.
  • Multi-device coordination. The sidebar shows which device is driving a workspace, you can set the current one as primary, and Remote Access settings move to the Devices tab.
  • Lighter new workspaces. New workspaces can start with a single Developer agent, with the full team one click away.
  • Model selection refinements. Your default model is kept when provider catalogs refresh, and reasoning-effort levels stay consistent across the model picker.
  • Faster loading. Workspaces open and render faster, and ambient animations pause when the window loses focus.
  • Under the hood. The daemon moves from intentd 0.9.12 to 0.9.38, adding a browser tab registry, remote browser routing, richer agent snapshots, lower request latency, and reliability fixes across secrets, delegation groups, and workspace transfer.

v2.129.1 (September 3, 2026)

Stable users upgrading from v2.118.0 gain remote-backend connectivity, inline images and video, a rebuilt embedded browser, a smarter model picker, and clearer PR and agent status, all running on a substantially updated daemon.

  • Connect to remote backends. Dial a remote daemon through a bundled secure tunnel. You can sync your connection address across devices via the keychain, pair with intent://pair deep links, and manage it all from the new Devices and Advanced settings, with graceful per-host certificate handling while reconnecting.
  • Images and video in chats and notes. Embed and view images and video inline in both chat and notes, including workspace videos rendered from Markdown.
  • Revamped embedded browser. The in-app browser panel now fits the viewport properly and adds an element picker for pointing at things on a page.
  • Aurora and translucent window. New settings toggles add the animated aurora chat background and a translucent app window, along with a GPU-cost reduction that keeps it smooth.
  • Model picker upgrades. Pick a reasoning-effort level inside the model dropdown, with consistent model selection across agent creation, settings, and specialists. Provider cards now show which email or org account they are connected as.
  • Clearer PR and agent status. Each workspace row shows one PR icon for its earliest flow state, a new pr_queued status marks merge-queued PRs, and agent file locks appear in the Changes panel.
  • Sidebar and workspace polish. This release refines sidebar workspace actions, surfaces secondary-root changed files, restyles hover cards, and makes keyboard shortcuts editable.
  • Onboarding. Onboarding now supports non-git local folders, explains why the Create button is disabled, and migrates onboarding images cleanly to context items.
  • Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff can create new threads, with a polished header.
  • Networking. This release adds a Local Network Access toggle, a via-tailcat tunnel indicator, reorganized WebSocket API settings, and full TLS fingerprint display.
  • Performance. Style recalculation is reduced, renderer churn is bounded, and scrollback fetching is smarter during rapid scrolling.
  • Under the hood. The daemon moves from intentd 0.8.29 to 0.9.12: daemon-owned agent lock state over the protocol, per-workspace MCP server disable, PR-aware checkout (head plus base-branch merge target), the tunnel sidecar, a model-triple resolution overhaul, note.saveAsset exposed to agents, hardened secrets storage, and numerous auth and merge-queue reliability fixes.
